The dining room rug in a Borough Park home has a hard job. Every Shabbat and Yom Tov it sits under a long table with a crowd of family and guests, and chairs slide back and forth across it all evening. Wine, soup, challah crumbs and candle wax all land on it sooner or later.
Living room and children's room rugs have it almost as hard, with strollers, toys and plenty of small feet.
We collect your rugs free of charge, wash them thoroughly at our plant and bring them back. If you live in an apartment building, we use the elevator by its rules; in a house, we carry the rugs down the porch steps and back up.
Before any rug gets wet, someone looks at the label or the weave to learn what it is made of, then touches each strong color with a damp cloth to see if it moves. A store-bought synthetic, a cotton nursery rug and a thick wool rug never get the same treatment.
Then the rug is fully submerged, washed, rinsed well and dried flat at a measured pace. That full soak is what pushes out the crumbs and grit that collect under a dining table, deep where vacuuming cannot reach.
Candle wax is a common problem on dining room rugs. We lift as much as possible before washing, and the wash takes care of most of the rest. Red wine and grape juice are treated during the wash, which works far better than scrubbing at them on the floor.
Children's room rugs pick up play dough, glitter and marker. Most of it releases in the wash, and we tell you honestly if a stain is likely to stay.
Before Pesach, many families want their rugs out of the house, cleaned and returned in time. Book a few weeks ahead if you can, since that season is busy, and tell us your date when you call.
Plan on roughly a week before the rugs are back. Every rug in the house travels in the same pickup and returns on the same day.
