Kensington area rug pickup from apartment buildings and family houses, including runners, kitchen mats and prayer rugs, washed at our facility and delivered back.
In a Kensington home, rugs are often where life happens. Children play on them, guests sit on them, and in many families they are where people pray.
That is a lot of use for something that never gets washed. Most rugs are too big for a home washing machine and awkward to haul to a cleaner on the B35 or the subway.
We come to you, take them away for a proper cleaning and bring them back.
Small rugs matter as much as big ones. Prayer rugs, a child's play mat, the kitchen runner and the rug by the front door can all go together, and they often need cleaning more than the large one in the living room.
When we arrive, the crew counts the rugs with you, marks each one, and writes down any stains or worn spots. You get the price before anything leaves your home.
Elevator buildings usually set times for moving big items, and our pickup is booked inside them. In a walk-up or a house, we carry them out by hand and take care on narrow stairs.
At the facility each rug is shaken out and dusted, then given a full wash and rinse. Rugs used on the floor for sitting and praying collect skin oils and food crumbs along with dust, and a real wash takes all of that out.
Rugs are dried completely before they come back. Damp rugs can smell sour, and we do not return a rug until it is dry all the way through.
If a rug has been rolled in storage, moths may have found it. We check, and we treat it if there are signs.
When we return, the pad goes down first, then the rug, then the chairs and table return to their places. Most orders are home within about a week.
Hand-knotted Persian or Afghan rugs are sent to our oriental rug specialists, who wash them by hand.
Families who prefer that their rugs are not mixed with others can ask about it when booking. Every rug is tagged to your order from pickup to return.
Runners from long pre-war hallways can be ten feet or more. We measure each one and carry it rolled, never folded, so it does not crease.
