Quogue is one of the oldest summer villages on the South Fork. Many of its houses are shingle-style homes from the late 1800s and early 1900s, with wide porches, tall hedges and big lawns. Across the bay, the houses on Dune Road sit between the ocean and the water behind the barrier beach.
Most homes here are second homes. They open in spring, fill with family and guests all summer, and close up in fall. Many owners have a house manager or caretaker who handles the work while they are in the city. We are used to working that way.

Older houses in the village have original wood floors, plaster walls and narrow back stairs. We lay down protection at every doorway, run hoses carefully along painted trim, and carry heavy equipment instead of rolling it over old floors.
Opening a house is our busiest work here. After a winter closed up, rugs and furniture smell stale and mattresses feel damp. A spring visit, done before the first guests, can cover the carpets, rugs, sofas and beds in one or two days.
Closing the house in fall is the other big moment. Sand, sunscreen and spills from the summer should not sit all winter. We can clean and send rugs to our plant so they come back rolled and ready for storage.
If a house manager meets us, they get the same walk-through you would: what we will clean, what we noticed, how long it will take.
The center of the village is small and quiet, with tree-lined streets running toward the water. Many properties have gravel drives and gates, so let us know any gate code or parking rule before the visit.
Dune Road runs along the barrier beach, with houses facing the ocean on one side and the bay on the other. Those homes live with salt spray, blowing sand and strong sun, which shows up on windows, decks and anything left on the porch.
The Quogue Wildlife Refuge on the north side of the village is a reminder of how much woodland surrounds the homes away from the water. In summer, traffic on Montauk Highway can be heavy on Fridays, so we leave extra time and give you an honest arrival window.
