Area Rug Cleaning in Quogue, NY

Big rooms mean big rugs. In Quogue we often collect a room-size rug from under a long dining table, a runner from a wide front hall, and a few smaller rugs from bedrooms, all from one house.

Porches are a special case. Many shingled houses have a deep covered porch with an indoor-outdoor rug that sees salt air, rain, pollen and bare feet all summer. Those rugs clean up well, but they hide a lot of grit.

Pickup and delivery are free. When we bring the rugs back, we can lay them down and set the furniture on top for you.

When we arrive, we measure each rug, check its fiber and backing, and agree on a price before anything leaves the house. If a house manager is meeting us, we leave a written list of what we took.

Large rugs need extra hands and care to move without hitting walls or door frames in an old house. We roll them face in, wrap them, and carry them out rather than dragging.

At the plant, rugs are dusted first. A porch rug or a rug near a beach door can hold a surprising amount of sand at the base.

Washing is matched to the fiber. Wool gets a full, gentle bath. Cotton flatweaves and indoor-outdoor polypropylene rugs take a stronger clean. Viscose and other delicate fibers are handled with care so they do not stiffen or turn brown.

After rinsing, rugs dry flat. Most are ready and delivered back in about a week. During spring opening season, booking early helps you get them back before the first guests.

If you are closing the house, we can return rugs rolled and wrapped for winter storage instead of laying them down.

Pets that come out for the summer can leave accidents on rugs in rooms the family uses less. We treat pet stains and odors during the wash, and tell you before we start if an old mark may leave a light shadow.

Kids' rooms and bunk rooms often have washable cotton or synthetic rugs. Those clean quickly and return with the rest of your order.

Older Quogue houses sometimes have rugs that were cut or bound to fit a particular room. We note the shape and the binding at pickup, and return the rug to the same place, facing the same way.
