Area Rug Cleaning in Washington Heights, Manhattan

Area rugs in Washington Heights live through a lot. The living room rug catches rice, crumbs and spilled soda from family dinners. The kids' room rug turns into a racetrack and a play mat. The hall runner gets every step from the front door, including the slush in February.

Those rugs come with us to our facility, where they are soaked, scrubbed through to the backing, rinsed and laid flat to dry. That reaches the sand and grit that settle deep at the base of the pile.

Moving the rug is our part of the job. On a walk-up's narrow stairs, the crew rolls the rug tight and carries it down by hand. In an elevator building, the super may want to know we are coming, and we keep the lobby clear while we load.

On a steep block, the van might park around the corner. We take that into account, so it does not slow down your pickup.

At the facility, each rug gets a fiber and color test before it gets wet. Wool, cotton, viscose and synthetic rugs need different handling, and the test stops colors from running.

Shag and high-pile rugs, popular in kids' rooms and bedrooms uptown, hide a lot of sand and hair. They get extra dusting before the wash so the water can reach the base.

Pet stains and odor are dealt with during the wash. If there are signs of moths or carpet beetles, a treatment can be added to the job.

Most rugs come home in about seven days. When they do, we put the rug pad down first and lay the rug on top, so it stays put on the floor.

Pickup and return cost nothing anywhere in Washington Heights and Hudson Heights, and our products are eco-safe and non-toxic, which matters on rugs where babies crawl and pets curl up.

Hand-knotted Persian pieces get our oriental rug hand-wash, and the bedrooms can have their carpet cleaned the same week. See the Washington Heights page for more, or book rug cleaning in Inwood for family just to the north. Phone 1-800-589-4364 to arrange pickup.
