Carpet Cleaning in Washington Heights, Manhattan

Apartments uptown are often bigger than the Manhattan average, and that means more carpet: three or four bedrooms, a long entry hall and sometimes a carpeted living room in a building where the floors are old and uneven.

With a big household, that carpet never gets a day off. Kids race down the hall, relatives drop by after church or on a Sunday afternoon, and everyone crosses the same lane between the door and the kitchen.

A visit starts with a quick look at the fiber, so the technician knows how hot the water can be. The darkest lanes and any spots you show us are treated next.

Then comes the main step: heated water is driven into the carpet and pulled back out right away, carrying the loosened dirt with it. A sanitizing, deodorizing rinse goes on after that, and a grooming pass at the end stands the pile up so air can reach it.

The first few feet inside the front door usually look the worst. That patch gets extra passes until its color is closer to the rest of the hall.

Children's bedrooms collect slime, crayon, juice and the odd nighttime accident. We treat each mark with something made for it, using products that are safe for little ones who play on the floor.

Uptown sidewalks are steep, and in winter they are salted heavily. The white crust that boots carry inside dissolves in hot water and gets rinsed away.

In a walk-up, our crew hauls the machine up the stairs and covers the stairwell and doorway on the way in. In an elevator building, we check with the super if the building wants contractors to sign in.

With a window cracked or a fan on, plan for about four to six hours of drying. Everything we put down is eco-safe and non-toxic, fine for kids, older relatives and pets.

Big families often add mattress sanitizing or the living room sofa to the same day; the Washington Heights page shows all our services. One neighborhood north, we also clean carpets in Inwood. Dial 1-800-589-4364 and ask for a free carpet quote.
