Gowanus rug pickup from lofts, towers and walk-ups. We roll the rug, carry it out, wash it at our facility and lay it back down when it is done.
In a Gowanus loft, the rug often does the work that walls do in other homes. It marks the living area in one big open room, so it tends to be large and it gets walked on from every side.
In the newer towers, a rug is often the first nice one someone has owned. Either way, it is too big to wash in the bathtub and too heavy to carry to a car.
Hall runners and the small mats by the kitchen and bathroom can go out on the same pickup, so nothing gets forgotten.
On pickup day we look at the rug with you, note stains, worn spots and loose ends, and give you a clear price before it leaves. Then we roll it with its pad and carry it out.
In a converted warehouse, that usually means the freight elevator. In a new tower, it means the service elevator during the hours management allows. In a row house walk-up, it means the stairs, so we bring enough people to carry it safely.
At the facility the rug is dusted first. Rugs near the canal and the building sites often hold a surprising amount of grit, and getting it out protects the fibers from wearing down.
Then the rug is washed all the way through and dried flat. Slow or uneven drying can leave a musty smell or a wavy edge, so we take the time to do it right.
Most rugs come home in about a week. We lay it back down, put the pad under it, and set the furniture back on top.
Pet stains and odor are treated in the fibers and the backing, not only on top. If urine has already changed the dye, we tell you before the wash so there are no surprises.
