Area Rug Cleaning in DUMBO, Brooklyn

In a DUMBO loft, an area rug does a lot of work. It marks off the living room inside one big open space, softens the sound in rooms with brick walls and high ceilings, and keeps bare feet off cold concrete in winter. Because of that, rugs here are often large, and they collect a surprising amount of dust.

Our area rug service is a pickup service. We roll the rug, carry it out, wash it at our facility and bring it back clean and dry. Washing off-site lets us rinse the rug completely and dry it flat, which is hard to do on a floor you still need to live on.

Before pickup, we look at the rug's fiber, backing and dyes. Wool, cotton, jute, viscose and synthetic rugs all need different handling. Viscose and some jute rugs are delicate when wet, and we will tell you up front if a rug has limits.

At the facility, dry soil comes out first. Rugs in older industrial buildings often hold fine brick and concrete dust deep in the base, so this step matters. Then the rug is washed, rinsed until the water runs clear and dried on a rack.

Getting a nine-by-twelve or larger rug out of a loft takes planning. We roll it tightly, wrap it, and use the freight elevator if your building has one. If the building wants pickups only at certain hours, we work around that.

Pet stains and spills get treated before the wash. If urine has soaked into the backing, we will explain what can and cannot be fixed before you decide.

When the rug comes back, we lay it out where you want it, so you are not left dragging a heavy rug across the floor yourself.

Hand-knotted Persian and tribal pieces go through our separate DUMBO oriental rug service, and the main DUMBO page covers our other cleaning work. We also handle area rug pickup in Fort Greene. Call 1-800-589-4364 or ask for a free quote online to book area rug cleaning in DUMBO, 11201.
