Couch cleaning across Bensonhurst for front-room sets, family room sectionals and the well-loved basement sofa, done on site with stain and odor care.
Count the couches in a Bensonhurst two-family house and the number is often three: the good set in the front room, a sectional in the family room, and an older sofa in the basement. That last one usually has the hardest life, from movie nights and video games to snacks and the dog.
Our crew handles all of them on site. One compact machine and a few drop cloths are enough to work through two or three sofas in a single visit.
With a driveway or garage, the van parks right there and we are inside and working in a few minutes.
Cushions come off first. Underneath, on the platform of the sofa, there is always a collection of crumbs, coins, hair and, in summer, sand carried back from the bay. Removing that dry keeps it from turning to mud when the cleaning starts.
Every mark gets matched with its own pre-spray. Family room couches tend to carry food and grease, while the front-room set is more likely to show dust, fading and the odd drink ring.
Then the entire piece is cleaned with low moisture, so springs, wood and foam stay dry inside. Microfiber gets brushed at the end, which keeps it from drying stiff and patchy.
Dogs and cats are part of a lot of families here. A rubber pet tool pulls the hair out of the weave, and the odor is treated below the surface. Power recliners are handled with a method that keeps water clear of the motor.
Front-room sets in many of these homes were bought to last, and some are decades old. Old foam can be fragile, and the fabric may be a heavy velour or tapestry. We go easy on moisture so the cushions keep their shape.
You can usually sit down again the same afternoon or evening, two to four hours later. In summer, the air conditioner speeds things up.
