Carpet Cleaning in Inwood, Manhattan

Inwood apartments are generous by Manhattan standards. A pre-war two-bedroom here can have a foyer, a long hallway and bedrooms with space for a crib and a dresser. When those rooms are carpeted, there is a lot of carpet to clean.

Families tend to keep the same wall-to-wall for many years. By the time they call us, the hallway has a clear gray path, the kids' room has juice and marker spots, and the area by the radiator has dust lines along the wall.

We move the furniture ourselves, so you do not need to clear the rooms. Chairs, beds and dressers go back on small blocks while the carpet dries.

Long pre-war hallways are where carpet wears out first. Everyone walks the same strip from the front door to the kitchen and the bathroom. We spray that lane with a stronger pre-treatment and let it sit while we set up the rest of the job.

Kids' rooms come next. Crayon, slime, juice and the occasional potty-training accident are all common. Each stain gets the product that suits it, so we are not using one strong chemical on everything.

Along the walls you may see dark lines where air flows under the door or past the radiator. That is fine soot caught by the carpet. We work those edges with a hand tool.

Then the whole carpet gets a hot water rinse with strong suction. In winter, Inwood buildings run their steam heat high, and that dry heat helps carpet dry quickly, often in about four hours.

Families with a long-term carpet sometimes ask if it is worth cleaning or time to replace it. We will tell you honestly after we look at the backing and the pad.

Inwood buildings with long, carpeted interior hallways sometimes hire us for the common areas. We can clean them early in the day, mark wet sections and keep a dry path open for residents.
