Area Rug Cleaning in Tribeca, Manhattan

Open loft floors invite big rugs. In many Tribeca homes one oversized rug anchors the living area, another sits under the dining table and a runner covers the long hall between the bedrooms. Rugs that size are hard to clean well on the floor of a home.

That is why our area rug service is a pickup service. We roll the rug, carry it out, and wash it at our facility, where it can be soaked through, rinsed and dried flat instead of being cleaned only on the surface.

Pickup in a loft building usually runs through the freight elevator. Once you book, we confirm the elevator window with you or your building staff, so the crew arrives at a time the building has already agreed to.

Run your hand against the pile near the middle of the rug. If your palm comes up gray, or the colors look duller in the traffic path than at the edges, there is soil deep in the fibers that vacuuming will not reach.

Sun is the other thing to watch. Loft windows are large, and a rug that sits in the same bright spot for years can fade unevenly. We note any fading at pickup, and it is a good moment to think about turning the rug when it comes back.

Every rug gets a fiber and dye test before washing. Wool, cotton, viscose and synthetic rugs all react differently to water, and a quick test on a corner tells us which method is safe.

Larger rugs are measured at pickup and quoted on their real size, so there are no surprises when the rug comes back.

Pet accidents and spilled drinks are treated during the wash, not just covered with a scent. Most rugs are cleaned, dried and ready to come home within about a week.

On delivery, we carry the rug back up, lay it in place and help line it up with the furniture.
