Auto Detailing in Harlem, Manhattan

Harlem has more drivers than lower Manhattan, but almost no driveways. Cars sit along the side streets between the avenues, in monthly garages or in a building's small lot.

We bring the detailing to the car. On the street, the crew sets up at a legal curb spot near your building. In a garage, please ask the manager first; some are happy to let us work in your space, and others say no.

Family cars here take a beating. Car seats, soccer cleats, takeout bags and the dog from the dog run all leave their mark on the cabin.

We usually start inside. Floor mats come out, and the carpet, seats and trunk get a deep vacuum. Then the dash, cupholders, door pockets and console are wiped and the windows cleaned inside.

Fabric seats are shampooed and extracted. Leather is cleaned and treated with a conditioner so it does not crack.

Child car seats can come out so we can clean the crumbs and spills hiding underneath. We put them back exactly where they were.

Outside, the car is hand washed, the wheels scrubbed of brake dust, and a coat of wax goes on to protect the paint from street grime and bird droppings.

Winter is hard on cars parked on the street. Road salt crusts on the lower doors and soaks into the floor mats. A cold-weather interior detail keeps salt from staining the carpet.

Plenty of Harlem cars do long drives on weekends, up the Henry Hudson to visit family or out to the beach in summer. They come back with sand in the carpet, coffee in the cupholders and bugs on the front bumper. A Monday detail on your block clears all of it.

Street parking under trees has its own price. Sap and bird droppings land on the hood and roof, and if they sit for weeks in the sun they can etch the clear coat. We soften them gently before washing instead of scrubbing them off dry.

Expect two to four hours. If you have to leave for work, hand us the keys and we will lock up when we are done.
