Co-op boards and managing agents here tend to be strict. Many allow contractors only on weekdays, within set hours, and through the service entrance. We ask about these rules when you book, arrive at the right door and keep hallways spotless on the way out.
Townhouses are their own world. Several floors, narrow stairs, carpeted runners and a garden at the back. We bring compact equipment and protect the stair rails and banisters while we carry it.
Quiet matters too. Many residents are retired or work from home, and thin prewar walls carry sound. We keep the noise to the time we actually need the machine running.
