Stairs come first. A fifth-floor apartment means many trips up and down, so we send portable machines, pack the van in the right order and work out the carrying before we arrive. It is part of the job, not a reason to charge you extra.
Space is the second thing. Railroad apartments have long, narrow layouts, and the only way to the back bedroom may be through the kitchen. We move furniture with care in tight rooms and put it back where it was.
Many people here share an apartment with roommates, and many live with a dog or cat. When several people share one couch and one rug, things get dirty fast. Nothing we use is toxic, so the dog does not need to leave.

Parking near St. Marks Place and the busy avenues is hard, so we plan arrival times with care. We can often come today or tomorrow, and the same crews head up into Gramercy across 14th Street.
