Area Rug Cleaning in East Village, Manhattan

In a walk-up with old wood floors, an area rug does a lot of work. It quiets footsteps for the neighbor below, warms a cold floor in winter and gives the dog somewhere soft to lie.

Washing a rug in a small apartment is hard to do well. That is why we take it to our facility. We roll it, carry it down the stairs, and bring it back about a week later, washed, rinsed and fully dry.

Nothing about pickup needs an elevator. Two of our people wrap the rolled rug and walk it down the stairwell, turning carefully at each landing. On the return trip they climb back up, unroll it on the pad and set the coffee table back on top. You pay nothing for either trip.

Winter makes it worse. With the radiator on full and the windows shut, dust and dander have nowhere to go, and a rug acts like a filter that never gets changed.

Rugs that live near Tompkins Square Park often belong to dogs as much as people. Dog hair, muddy paws and accidents are the main things we treat in the East Village. Odor sits in the base of the rug, so it needs a full wash, not a spray on top.

In shared apartments, the living room rug takes the traffic of three or four people plus guests. If it looks gray in the middle, it is time.

At the facility, we check the fiber, test the colors, then wash the rug fully, rinse it clean and dry it flat. The fringe is washed and combed. If you have seen moth damage, ask for a moth treatment as well.
