Sag Harbor is not like the newer Hamptons villages. Many of its houses were built when whaling ships still came into the harbor, and they still have the low ceilings, narrow stairs and wide wood floors of that time. Mixed in are small cottages, renovated captains' houses and newer homes on the edges of the village.
Life here changes with the seasons. In winter, the village belongs to the people who live here all year. From late spring through September, the summer houses open, rentals fill, and Main Street and Long Wharf get crowded.

Old houses need patience. Staircases can be steep and tight, doorways are narrow, and floors are often original pine boards with rugs on top. Our crews protect floors and railings, carry equipment carefully and take the time the house needs.
Salt air and sand are part of every summer. Beach towels, wet feet from Havens Beach and sandy dogs all end up on rugs, sofas and car seats. We clean that grit out before it wears fabrics down, using eco-safe products that are safe for kids and pets.
Many homes here are second homes or rentals. We often work with owners who are not in town - opening a house in spring, refreshing it between summer guests, or cleaning up after the season. Tell us how you want access handled, and we will confirm every detail before the visit.

Parking is the hard part in summer. Lanes near the center are narrow and Main Street fills up fast. When you book, tell us where we can park, and we will plan early or weekday visits in July and August when we can. Our crews also work in nearby Sagaponack.
