Next we treat the spots - wine, coffee, sunscreen, flip-flop prints and the odd melted ice cream. Each stain gets a product made for that kind of mess.
Then comes hot-water extraction. The machine pushes hot water into the carpet and pulls it right back out with the dirt in it, followed by a rinse that leaves the carpet fresh and clean.
In older houses, the carpet often meets original wood at the doorways. We work slowly along those edges and protect the wood from water and tools.
Low ceilings and tight upstairs halls mean less airflow, so drying can take a bit longer. Opening windows on the harbor breeze or running the air conditioning helps a lot.
