Few people Downtown park on the street for long. Most cars live in a building garage or a monthly lot, and that is where we usually work.

Garages each have their own rules. Some let us use a bay and water. Others only allow interior work. We ask before we book, so the detail fits the space.

On the inside, crumbs and grit come out of every seam, the trunk is cleared, and every hard surface from the dashboard to the door pockets is wiped down. Cloth seats can get a shampoo; leather gets cleaned and treated so it does not dry and crack.

Outside, if water is allowed, the paint gets a hand wash, a towel dry and a coat of wax, and the rims and tires are scrubbed. Brake dust from stop-and-go driving on the FDR Drive and West Street builds up fast on wheels.

Cars that sit for weeks in a garage collect a film of dust, and the inside can smell stale. A detail brings it back before a road trip or after a long winter.

Since the streets here are narrow and loading zones are short, we do not work on the street. When a garage forbids washing, an interior-only plan that needs no hose is the usual answer.

A full detail usually takes a few hours. You do not always need to stay, if the garage can give us the keys. We confirm everything when you book.

Salt is the big winter problem. Cars that drive in from New Jersey or upstate come back with white crust on the mats and lower doors. We scrub and rinse the mats, and where the garage allows a hand wash, we clean the lower panels and wheel wells too.

Families with car seats know how much ends up under them. We take the time to clean around and beneath the seats, and we can clean the fabric of the car seat itself if you ask.
