Candle wax is a special case. Pulling or rubbing it drives it deeper into the pile. We lift the wax off first with a gentle method, and only then does the rug go in for washing.
At the plant, each rug is beaten and vacuumed to free the sandy grit that hides at the base of the pile. Then it is soaked, washed through, rinsed and hung so air dries both sides. Nothing comes back damp.
