Condo and rental carpet in Parkchester, done in a single trip: equipment up by elevator, furniture shifted by us, quote free.
Carpet in a Parkchester apartment is usually a choice the owner made over the years, laid over the original floor in the bedrooms, the hallway or sometimes the whole unit. In a building full of neighbors, many people like it because it softens footsteps for the family below.
That benefit comes with a cost: carpet in an apartment traps everything that comes in on shoes from the elevator and the paths outside, plus cooking residue drifting in from the kitchen. The hallway from the front door to the bedrooms is almost always the darkest stretch.
We roll the equipment in on a cart, shift the beds, dressers and chairs ourselves and set them back on pads when we are done.
Every job begins with identifying the fiber, because a wool carpet needs gentler chemistry than nylon or polyester. The entry path, the spot where the hallway meets each bedroom and spots where a pet lies are pre-sprayed, and then each room gets a thorough hot water extraction.
Apartments here are often warm in winter thanks to building heat, which helps carpet dry. In summer, an air conditioner or a fan running in the room keeps drying to a few hours.
Some units have carpet that has been down for a long time under an owner who has since moved or passed it to a family member. Old carpet can be cleaned, but if the backing has broken down or the pad has crumbled, you will hear that from us before any work is done.
Owners preparing a unit for a new tenant often want the carpet done the same day as the mattress and couch. That keeps the apartment empty for the shortest time.
Pets in apartments tend to pick one corner, often near a window or by the bed. We go over the rooms with you to find those spots and use an enzyme spray on them before the main cleaning.
Loose rugs lying on the wood floors can travel with us for a plant wash, as our Parkchester area rug page explains.
