Curbside car care in Fordham: we come to a legal street space, your driveway, or a private lot whose owner has okayed it.
Keeping a car presentable in Fordham is a battle. Parking near Fordham Road and the Concourse is scarce, buses and delivery trucks coat every parked car in soot, and driving off to a car wash can mean circling the block for an hour when you get back.
Inside, the story is crumbs from the school run, shopping bags, sand from a beach day and the odd spilled coffee.
So the work happens where the car already is. The van is self-supplied, with water and power on board, and it can set up beside a legal curb space, in a house driveway, or in a private lot whose owner has agreed.
Parked on the street? Choose a time with no sweeper due and no meter running out, so the car can sit through the whole job. Parked in a private lot or a building garage? Ask the owner or manager first whether outside detailers are welcome.
Inside, every surface you touch gets attention: the steering wheel, shifter, dash, console, door handles and pockets, plus the vents and the inner side of every window. Carpets and seats are vacuumed. Cloth upholstery is foamed and rinsed out with an extractor; leather gets a gentle soap and a conditioning cream.
Outside, the body is washed by hand and waxed. City soot and brake dust come off the paint and the wheels, and the tires get a dressing.
Under a booster or infant seat is where a family car hides its worst secrets. We unbuckle it, lift it out, clean the bench underneath and strap it back in.
Ride-share and delivery drivers can keep the cabin fresh for passengers with a regular interior clean. A weekly or monthly schedule is easy to set up.
In the cold months, rock salt dries into white crusts on the floor mats. An interior detail dissolves it before it bleaches the carpet.
Dog fur woven into the cargo carpet comes out with a pet-hair stone and a powerful vac before any shampoo goes down.
Set aside about half a day for everything. A cabin-only or wash-and-wax-only appointment is shorter.
