Upstairs bedrooms usually see light, even wear. We pre-spray the paths from the door to the bed and the closet, then extract the whole room. Most bedroom carpet comes up bright with a standard cleaning.
The stairs and upper hall are a different story. Everyone uses them, often in shoes, and the carpet on the front edge of each step wears and darkens first. We clean each step by hand before extracting it.
The finished basement is where the most care is needed. Being close to the water, Country Club basements can be cooler and damper than the rest of the house, and carpet laid over concrete dries more slowly. We check the moisture level, use as little water as possible, and often suggest a dehumidifier or fan to speed up drying.

Upper floors usually dry in four to six hours. Basements can take longer. Socks are fine right away.
