Area Rug Cleaning in Elmhurst, Queens

With hard floors in so many Elmhurst living rooms, the area rug is where daily life happens. In homes where shoes come off at the door, families sit on it, kids play on it, and sometimes dinner is served on it.

That close contact puts a lot into the pile: crumbs, oil from hands and feet, spilled tea and soup, pet hair, crayon. Most of it sinks to the base of the rug, out of reach of a vacuum.

A real wash is the fix. We bring your rug to our plant, clean it all the way through, and bring it home again, and the trips both ways are free.

Picking up from a big building takes a little planning. If the super wants a heads-up or the service elevator must be reserved, tell us at booking. The crew rolls the rug tight, wraps it, and takes it out without dragging it across the lobby.

At the plant we sort rugs by what they are made of. Thin cotton rugs and low-pile synthetic rugs, very common in Elmhurst homes, clean up well but can shrink if they are dried too hot. Wool needs a cooler, gentler wash, and viscose needs the most care of all.

Each rug is then soaked and flushed with clean water until the rinse runs clear. Food spots and pet accidents are treated during that wash.

Drying happens indoors with steady airflow, which keeps the rug flat and square.

Plan on being without the rug for about a week. When it comes back, we take it up to your apartment and lay it where you want it.

A lot of Elmhurst families keep a soft rug in the corner where the baby crawls and naps. That rug sees milk, food and diaper accidents, and parents worry about what goes into it. Our wash products are non-toxic and fully rinsed out, so the rug comes home clean and safe for little hands once dry.

If your building has a doorman, we can also leave the rolled rug at the desk for you to bring up, or set a time to deliver it straight into the apartment. Whatever is easiest for your schedule.

Handmade or antique pieces get a separate process; read about it on our Elmhurst oriental rug page.
