Much of Greenpoint is still two- and three-family houses, many of them wood frame with vinyl or aluminum siding, plus small brick walk-ups and apartments above the stores on Manhattan Avenue and Nassau Avenue.
Along the waterfront, a newer Greenpoint has gone up: tall rental and condo buildings with doormen, package rooms and service elevators. Our crews work in both, and the plan for a fourth-floor walk-up is very different from the plan for a tower.

Plenty of Greenpoint families have been here for generations, and some of the rugs and chairs in their homes are older than the people sitting on them. We look at each piece, test the fabric and the dyes, and choose a gentle method when a piece needs it.
Newer neighbors in the waterfront buildings often have modern sofas, light-colored fabric and pets. We clean those just as carefully, with eco-safe, non-toxic products that are safe for kids and dogs.
Walk-ups mean stairs. We bring enough people to carry rugs and equipment safely, and we protect the hallway and banister on the way up and down.
