Oriental Rug Cleaning in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn

Handmade rugs are part of many Brighton Beach homes. Some were brought from abroad, some were passed down from parents, and some have hung on a wall or covered the living room floor for many years.

These rugs are often wool or silk, knotted by hand and colored with dyes that can run if they are cleaned the wrong way. A regular carpet machine is not the right tool.

We pick the rug up from your apartment, hand wash it with care and return it clean and fully dry.

Each rug is first inspected front and back. We look at the knots, the fiber, the fringe and any worn or weak areas, and we tell you what we see before cleaning begins.

A dye test comes next. Natural and older dyes can bleed when wet, so we check the colors in several spots and adjust the wash if needed.

Then the rug is dusted out thoroughly. In this neighborhood that means a lot of fine beach sand, which cuts into wool fibers over time if it stays in.

The hand wash uses gentle, eco-safe solutions suited to wool or silk. Pet stains and odors are treated separately, and the fringe is washed and combed.

Humidity by the ocean is hard on wool, and moths like rugs that sit in damp, quiet corners. We check for insect damage and dry every rug completely before it comes home.

We return the rug rolled, protected and ready to lay down. If you want, the crew can place it back where it was, and we can suggest a rug pad that helps it stay flat and wear evenly.

Small repairs, like loose fringe or worn edges, are worth catching early. We will point them out when we inspect the rug so you can decide what to do.

Machine-made rugs do fine with our standard area rug cleaning. For the rest of the home, see all services on our Brighton Beach page.
