Co-op City is a housing cooperative on a scale found nowhere else in the city: 35 high-rise towers plus clusters of townhouses, spread across the far northeast Bronx between the Hutchinson River Parkway and I-95. Residents buy shares in the cooperative rather than owning a deed, and the complex runs its own buildings, grounds and garages.

Getting to an upper-floor apartment in a 30-plus-story building is mostly about the elevator. Our crew loads the equipment on a cart, protects the elevator walls and keeps the corridor clear so neighbors can pass. Where contractors must sign in or use a particular door, we follow that procedure.
Because apartments are larger here, it is common to book several rooms or several services at once: carpet in the bedrooms, a sectional in the living room, a mattress or two. We plan the time for everything so it is done in one trip.
