Fences, pergolas and outdoor shower stalls are tested in one small spot before the full wash, since older wood can fuzz if the setting is wrong. Roofs only ever get the soft-wash method.
Pool water and planting beds are protected during the work, and runoff is steered away from both.
The busiest weeks are in spring, before the pool opens. A second wash in mid-summer keeps stone around the pool clean through Labor Day.
Outdoor furniture frames - teak, aluminum and resin - can be washed alongside the patio. Teak gets a gentle wash so the wood is not raised.
Garage doors, trash enclosures and the walls of pool equipment sheds collect mildew too, and are easy to add when we are on site.
