During the visit, grit comes out first. A strong upright vacuum makes several slow passes so sand does not turn to mud once water hits it. Then we spray the busy lanes, the back-door area, the spot in front of the couch and any pet marks. Work boots leave greasy dark patches by the entry, and those get their own product.
Next comes the hot-water extraction wash over the whole carpet, with extra dry passes to pull up as much water as possible. On carpeted stairs, each step is sprayed and the edges are finished by hand.
After we leave, the carpet needs four to six hours to dry. Running a fan or the air conditioner speeds it up. Put furniture pads back if you move anything, and keep pets off until it is dry.
About pet accidents: new spots usually come out well. Spots that have soaked into the pad over months may leave a light mark or smell, and we tell you that before we begin.
